If You Can Relate to These 5 Statements, It’s Time for a New Job

If you love your job and wouldn’t want to do anything else for a living, you are one lucky person! That’s because almost everyone you know does not like their work. In fact, if you polled your friends, family and acquaintances, you would find the vast majority of them hate what they do!

So, what gives here? Yes, there are the chronic complainers who aren’t happy with anything, but they are the exceptions. And, of course, some lack ambition (we call them lazy) and hate work because it’s  well  work!

Most of us, however, are neither complainers nor sloths, so there must be other things that cause so many of us to vent about our jobs. You might not be saying anything negative about your work, but when you hear someone else voice dissatisfaction with their job, you immediately identify with them.

Here are some of the comments you might be hearing. If you can relate to any of them, you might want to consider changing jobs.

I can’t stand my boss!

Sometimes an immediate supervisor is a dictator or isnt qualified for their job. Sometimes it’s both! It’s next to impossible to enjoy your work if this is the case, and there isn’t much you can do about it without making things worse. Your options are to subject yourself to this nightmarish scenario day after day or to move on to a manager who treats workers with respect.

I don’t like my co-workers.

It isn’t easy to have fun at work when everyone around you is gossiping, complaining about their personal lives or being outright ornery. Just because you are easygoing doesn’t guarantee others will reciprocate. When your personality just doesn’t mesh, it’s time to find a job with people who think more as you do.

I don’t like the company or its policies.

It could be you don’t enjoy your work because you’re continually being required to compromise yourself in ways that make you feel uncomfortable. If you don’t like what your company stands for or how it does business, you are unlikely to ever feel at home there.

There is no flexibility in my schedule.

There are those employers that have little or no regard for their employees’ personal lives. If you have missed every one of your daughter’s soccer games, maybe it’s time to find a company that understands the meaning of work/life balance.

They are not tapping into my real talents.

If you’ve been feeling like a faceless cog in the big machine, your job isn’t connecting with the parts that make you who you are. It could be time to find a job that needs and appreciates you as an individual.
